Carlton Club

193 Bourke St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia

‍The Carlton Club as we know it today was reformed by Melbourne hospitality guru Tracey Lester, in 2006. The building itself was constructed in 1912 and named Queensland Hotel. In 1936, Carlton Brewing company bought the property and called it, The Carlton Hotel. Prior to Tracey Lester's gentrification, The Carlton Hotel was considered to be a pretty rough venue. This is starkly different to the reputation now, which is more a quirky afterwork drinks venue that turns into a makeshift nightclub. ‍ The Carlton Club is multistoried with a few balcony/beer garden areas. On a Friday and Saturday night, Level 1 is RnB and pop music and Level 2 is more house and electronic music. The interior of the Carlton Club is lined with red carpet, red velvet couches and booths and indoor plants. ‍ In the afternoon and early evening, the carlton sees an afterwork drinks crowd. The nightclub crowd is very varied.
