The Swan Hotel has been a popular venue in Richmond since its inception in the 1890s. Often referred to as "The Dirty Swan" by locals, the Swan is iconic. ‍ While multi-levels in stature, the main area of The Swan is on Ground Level. There's the inside area and the outside beer garden. The inside interior looks like a country pub from the 1970's, with very simple design and very little modernisation. This is in no way a negative view of the venue, instead it is one of the most charming, timeless elements of the venue. The beer garden, however, is recently renovated and very modern. ‍ The Dirty Swan in Richmond gets its name and reputation because it is the venue open in Richmond on a Friday and Saturday night. So everyone funnels in around 1:30am to 2am, after a long time of drinking, making the last few hours at the Swan very sloppy. The inside section of the venue is not well ventilated so gets very sweaty and the carpeted venue absorbs a lot of the spilled alcohol and refreshes the air with a thick whiff of fun and debauchery. ‍ Outside of the Dirty Swan period 1am-3am, the Swan is a classic pub that prioritises Sport, trivia, live entertainment and decent grub. The entertainment at the Swan Hotel in Richmond involves a live band playing covers of classic pop, indie and rock songs, as well as, DJs that play a similar vein. ‍ The crowd is typically 20-35 years old but leans towards 24-28 years old.
